Kate Barris

Kate Barris (Co-Writer, Co-Producer)

Kate started out writing comedy and variety TV shows, but then became primarily a writer and executive story editor of children’s TV series. For years, she’s been responsible for entertaining (and perhaps misleading) your kids with shows like Max & Ruby, Mr. Dressup, Canadian Sesame Street, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About ThatThe Mighty JungleThe Hippo Tub Co., and Today’s Special. Now too old to keep up with kids, Kate’s been branching out into writing in other genres, for audiences who are allowed to cross the street. A novel for young adults is in the works and this play, written with David Schatzky, is finally getting a public performance. Woohoo! Last year, she and her talented husband Jim Betts were Co-Producers of the award-winning Toronto Fringe hit Dancer (A Musical in Ten Furlongs) with book and lyrics by Jim and music by Marek Norman.
