
Marsha Chesley (Casting Director)
Marsha Chesley has been a casting director for over 45 years and is the 2009 winner of the Gemini Award for Best Achievement in Casting. Armed with a BA, a BEd, and a Masters degree, Marsha began her working life as a high school French teacher. Continuing her educational pursuits, she has taught producers, directors, and actors at most local colleges and universities including George Brown College, Seneca College and Sheridan College. A published author, her book You Got the Part! is a perennial Canadian best seller. Early casting credits include revered hits like King of Kensington and Seeing Things. More recent credits include the televisions series King, This is Wonderland, Little Mosque on the Prairie, and the feature films Heaven on Earth directed by Deepa Mehta, George Walker’s Niagara Motel, Timothy Findley’s The Piano Man’s Daughter. For over 20 years Marsha was national co-chair of The Casting Directors Society of Canada (CDC). She was, for many years, on the Professional Advisory Committees for George Brown Theatre School and George Brown School of Media Studies.
